Hello,

I would like to know whether or not this is correct: "Did you go against him in that match?"

Context: I was playing an online game and my friends were watching. We didn't notice that I was against one of our online friends because we were all too focused on whatever was going on in the match. It was only after the fight when we all noticed the in game name of my opponent. My friend couldnt believe it and said "wow! Did you really go against him? What are the odds."

I'm just wondering if it's ok to use "did you go against him" and "did you face him" interchangeably. Thanks in advance!

@Rox111,
It's fine. A little informal but it's a phrase which is in common use and is easily understandable.
