Allow me to take a moment away from the NFL and give kudos to another "football" team. The University of Vermont eliminated its football program in 1974 after my sophomore year due to cost (and a lot of losing). They said they were going to focus on soccer in the fall and become a strong soccer school. It took 50 years, but last night the unranked UVM Catamounts became the Division I NCAA men's soccer champions and the first America East Conference team to ever win a NCAA Division I national championship in any team sport. Go, CATS, Go!
