Many people your age feel this way and have done since the dawn of civilization. It's called a generation gap and is perfectly normal.

Kudos to you for coming on here to spill your guts, but I suggest you talk to friends or a guidance counsellor or someone close to you just to vent.

We all invariably grow up and begin to understand why our parents did some of the things they did and actually laugh at our young selves.

Those same parents are the ones that bought your computer that you’re using and have given you the free-time to go online and diss the crap out of them. Great work if you can get it.

What he's doing is normal. It's just that these days, it's much more out there, all over the internet. He's only 13 - I remember feeling something like this, and so did my kids.

I objected, rightfully so. I don’t support this behavior. Having been an adolescent in a recent century, I tried to get advice from adults to try to understand my arbitrary parents.

The norm shown here is definitely not particularly useful or positive.

Your parents aren't dumb, they're teaching you how to be a responsible, functioning adult. Moving out at 18 is a big responsibility, from signing legal, binding lease paperwork, cleaning, budgeting & paying bills, shopping, eating correctly and getting to and from work in a manner that's affordable and convenient.

It seems you don't get the severity of what's being said. Yes, it may seem it's stupid to do chores. But, it really isn't. So instead of calling them names, take on additional responsibility around the house to prove you're learning the lessons you need to be an adult.

What does that mean

Eh, chores are how homes stay clean, pets stay fed, laundry gets done, and lawns get mowed. Chores are also how people learn how to do this stuff when they get homes of their own.

And before you tell me that your parents could always hire someone to do those chores, I recommend you tell them that, and see how long you're grounded for. Or see if they'll pay you, which will most likely also go over like a lead balloon.

PS you'll be doing chores when you're 18, too. Because if you don't cook or go food shopping, you probably won't eat. If you don't do laundry, then you'll have no clean clothes and will start to smell. If you don't wash dishes, the caked-on food will eventually start growing mold, and that will make you sick. If you don't organize your stuff, then you won't be able to find it for some of the really fun parts of adulthood which we like to call paying bills and doing your taxes.

The chores never end. They just change.

I'm not grounded

I'm not grounded but i want to move out bc my parents are annoying they annoy the crap out of me i ******* hate them i want to get away from them but I'm 13 i can't move out yet i know it sucks but I'm going to stick with it bc these annoying ass parents and probably dumb i hate doing chores i just ******* hate them i wish they weren't annoying but they are i want to get away from them and plus my parents have ******* anger issues

Ah, but your parents also have chores. At least one of them has a job which supports you. That is a bigger chore than you probably realize.

If the complaint was only the chores I would agree with everybody posting about it. The issues with the parents are at the core of it. Since none of us has to live with them we don't really know how bad it is. My family life left me traumatized in ways I will never recover from. I will be 82 in two months but there are times I might as well be twelve year old me for all the progress I have made.

Sweetheart, there comes a time where you look fondly back at your childhood home and the few chores you have had. The minute you'll become an adult your chores will 10-fold and you'll be overwhelmed with life itself and guess what? You'll go home and will ask your parents for help.

You don't see it now, you're a defiant teenager with raging hormones. If I were your parent, you'd have to pay for every cuss word you use. When my daughter was your age, she used 3545 times "like" in her vocabulary. I showed her a video of another girl using "like" profusely in every sentence. She realized how dumb it was and how uneducated that girl sounded. That's exactly how you sound.

Get a better vocabulary, learn how to articulate yourself better and then come back with valid points. Chores isn't one of them! If your parents didn't do their chores of feeding you, clothing you, and giving you a roof over your head, where the hell do you think you'd be? Right in foster care where your life would be more than miserable.

Go and appreciate what you have and stop badmouthing your parents, after all they're raising you - if they're dumb and stupid, you're the same!

Your parents are likely not dumb and annoying but I understand that you think they are. Sorry about their anger issues - that's not good but you'd likely find them dumb and annoying even if they didn't have any.

What I suggest is for you to find ways to occupy yourself with some hobbies/interests that you can do alone while suspending judgement on them for a period of time, say 6 months. See if you feel the same way then. Hang out by yourself if you like yourself enough and give them some space You're not the only one in the household who has an opinion! What do you think theirs is of you?
