What about freedom FROM religion?

Interesting op ed piece about freedom FROM religion in the Washington Post this morning. I recommend it, although it may be behind a paywall.

It is by Kate Cohen and is titled, “Why are we so tolerant of churchy bigotry?”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/03/06/religious-bigotry-lgbtq-homophobia/

Here’s a taste of it:

Are we just so accustomed to the anti-LGBTQ stances of conservative religious institutions that they don’t even register? Are we so used to church-sponsored homophobia that we ignore the vast, forbidding landscape of prejudice while celebrating the tiniest signs of change?

It made the news, for example, when Pope Francis told the Associated Press recently that homosexuality should not be criminalized, as it is in 67 countries, and urged bishops around the world to recognize everyone’s dignity. Amen.

He noted, however, that homosexuality is still a sin. The Catholic Church will keep calling it a sin, and urging sinners to repent, and it will keep refusing to recognize same-sex marriage or to condone adoption by same-sex parents, but in a way that also totally recognizes their dignity!

(Not for nothing: Where does the pope think those countries first got the idea that homosexuality should be a crime?)

(snip)

The Episcopal Church, for example, now officially sanctions same-sex marriage. And the Albany diocese — well, it’s working on it. A statement on the Episcopal Church website notes: “As with all spiritual journeys, everyone walks at their own pace. Some Episcopal congregations are actively involved in LGBTQ ministry and their arms are open wide; others are more reserved, but their doors are still open to all; some are still wrestling with their beliefs and feelings.”

(snip)

Now, let’s pretend that instead of talking about LGBTQ people, the church was talking about congregations “wrestling with their beliefs and feelings” about Black people. Would our spirit of patient forbearance extend to that?

Not too long ago, many American Christian institutions defended slavery, pointing to Bible verses such as Ephesians 6:5: “Slaves, obey your masters.” They then battled integration and interracial marriage, arguing that God meant for the races to be separated. Bob Jones University, from which the founders of Pensacola Christian College graduated, prohibited interracial dating until 2000.

Homophobic policies are no different — except in that, apparently, people are still more accepting of them.

One day, maybe, the Catholic Church and the Church of England will treat its LGBTQ congregants as equals. Maybe even Pensacola Christian College will evolve. In the meantime, let’s not be fooled by the “religious belief” talk: It’s just old-fashioned bigotry.

@Frank Apisa,
At least you don't have an established church.

Yeah, if we had a Church of America, with the president as its Supreme Governor, I would not be a happy camper.

Unfortunately, there are some over here who would love some form of that.

@Frank Apisa,
Gosherooties you do understand the promotion of LGBT is actually population control in disguise? In fact there is an entire dossier on the subject in terms of "Classified documentations". Partly this was responsible in terms of the war against the Hippies and Negro ( as with Nixon's cabinet ) but more or less inspired by "Soylent Greens" and what could happen if the world was over populated and supply v. demand was out of junction.

It is also the opposite plan of the Melting-pot or "Breeding them out" as with Australia. In fact what happen in Australia is what people should have do when the "Slaves we freed" in the US. The only difference was that those people was ex-convicts ( we are talking about "Les Misera" here ), and not even deemed as humans. However it worked there. If those former slave owners had pushed an extra kid out then the whole "race" thing would not matter at all. Yet United States had a stupid problem and all.

......................................................................

It is your moral duty, your obligation, your right, and your privlage to
reproduce, train the next generation, and keep a close watch on the laws, market-place, and actions of selfishness.

People come from nations where they are bare-footed/chigga-footed ( feet with bug bites ), black-footed ( feet turn dark from walking with no foot-ware ). You tell these people children "It is okay to be a homosexual", or "you could have a sex change and go back ( even if your penis and balls are non functioning and your vagina is unable to make eggs/periods ).

Are you really that stupid ?

About the USA. The USA has options. You could go through the process of being dubbed a "Native American" ( even if you do not look like one or have
resemblance of such ). You could be listed as "disabled" and gain access to drugs, have more class-time, and be able to get rights to "benefits" like disability, while at the same time not be able to "own" a gun. You could change your race to "save money" on car insurance, or even before your union wins a lawsuit ( my Grandpa list himself as Other because he feels wrong to be dependent on race, as I do. When a lawsuit won, he asked why he did not get anything, it was because it was based on a particular race ).

We talk about

Robots ( Germanic word for ) = forced labor
Chattel = people breed as slaves ( for labor that others might not do ).
Genocide = the annihilation of a race/republic ( culture )/religion ( like what went down in Australia or post-Thanksgiving ).

It is a "sin" because of the commandment "multiple and be fruitful". Which means to be like a tree, that mates via flowers, and bare-fruits which contains the seeds of the next generation. As a rotting fruit will grow a brilliant tree with multiple seeds as one unit. That is why it is a sin. You allowing yourself to not do the one thing that is natural that you can do.

You have been robbed. Imagine this.

You have no money
You own nothing of value
You have no ID or licenses
You have no property
Your job is only there because it is a possible need.

Now your being told not to enjoy the opposite sex
Now your being told to "ask for sex" instead of just taking what is yours.
Now your being told to cut off your penis and or remove your ovaries.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHg43wxZOzc

Bio-mechanical monstrosity that lives in servitude.

.........................................................................................................

Forget about the After-Life or any post-death or soul stuff. They are saying
you are robbing yourself of the one thing you can do that is natural.

@tsarstepan,
That individual is digging up every old thread about Israel and/or Jewish people to spread its odious antisemitism.

It's obsessive and maniacal, indicitive of some sad, friendless malcontent.
