Winter is moving along way to slowly to my taste .....

Just agreeing with you, Montana. Very Happy

Too much cold, grey, melancholy & gloom is better suited to a Bergman film than for the living our lives.
I understand the hybernation thing with some animals. I mean, what's to miss? Frost bite?

Enjoy what's left of your summer, M!

... & I hope your summer lasts that wee bit longer this year, Montana!

May your sun flowers grow tall! Very Happy

... & may they strangle Uncle Fester as he tries to peek through them! Twisted Evil

NO!

Hold on! This is a peaceful & loving thread!

OK, then: May Uncle Fester see the error of his ways & desist from his unsavory habits, forthwith!

How's that?

Beautiful, serene scenery from littlek's photography thread. Ah! Very Happy :

Last week was daunting. So much on my plate: my precarious work situation, financial worries, escalating (quite hideous & complicated) family problems, followed by some new problems with my house. A lot to worry about & I guess I was feeling rather (understatement!) frantic & preoccupied. It was go to work, deal with what you have no choice but to deal with & in the time you have left over, do what you can with the energy you have left ...

I noticed that my little cat was very scarce during my time at home during the week. She ate her meals & disappeared. Almost instantly. Didn't see much of her at all & I was feeling rather guilty about that.

Then, when I returned home after work on Friday (rather more relaxed, because some of the most challenging issues of the week felt a bit more manageable, or I was coping with them a bit better) there she was. Meow, meow, meow! Very loudly. Attention please! Attention now! Demanding lots & lots of pats, affection & non-stop attention ... which she got plenty of. She has stayed close to my side through this weekend. Obviously SO happy that I am no longer in stress mode & am able to indulge her a bit more.

Funny, isn't it? ... how smart the animals close to us actually are. They can read us like a book!

Msolga--

Your little cat wasn't making herself scarce. Your little cat was in communication with Isis and Isis smoothed your way last week.

She deserves lots of attention for her efforts.

You really think so, Noddy? I honestly thought Ms Poppy (my darling cat) was so taken aback by my frazzled state that she thought it was best to steer clear! (Poor pussycat! Sad )

But I like your theory better! Very Happy

If you have a minute, could you tell me a little more about Isis. You have me intrigued now!

Um ... life has been a little tough of late and the challenges are definitely keeping me on my toes! But so far I'm getting by OK. Just. Phew.

It's certainly very nice to see you back here again, Amigo. Very Happy You certainly come & go a lot!

Isis is an Egyptian goddess specializing in family affairs--including messy family affairs. Once a year her consort is killed and dismembered by his resentful brother and once a year Isis moves over the landscape, collecting the pieces and reassembling them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isis

Actually, I was probably thinking of Bast, another Egyptian goddess, but I'm sure there is a close sisterhood among the divine.

Bast is frequently represented as a cat. You can't have civilization without granaries and granaries must be guarded from marauders by cats.

msolga,

You asked about Isis. (You didn't ask me, but anyway, you asked.) Entirely apart from her extreme significance as a great goddess, I have a bit of a sidebar trivia story involving "Isis". Here it is, for what it's worth.

There is a newspaper columnist who frequently writes about pets and other animals. One time he sadly announced that his beloved cat, yclept Isis, had died. Since her name as a living cat was Isis, he pronounced that her post-mortem would hereafter become "Waswas".

Thank you for the enlightenment, Noddy & Aa. I suspect Isis could grow on me .... Especially the bit about specializing in messy family affairs. My family mess worsens by the day. Shocked Aghhh, I can't stand it.
HELLLLLLLLP, I think I'm getting an ulcer!

Embarrassed Oh dear!

Now it comes back to me: the famous Aa!

What was I thinking?

The fact is, dear Aa, I'm not thinking too clearly at all right now! Serious eruptions of family horrors (you wouldn't believe it! Sad ) have totally addled my brain & destroyed my normally reliable memory! If you think I'm exaggerating, you're wrong, wrong, wrong!! <wimper>

Thank you for setting me straight, margo.

Just one further question of Aa (if I may, after my rudeness) ... If WasWas is a dearly departed version of Isis the cat .... what would one call a reincarnated cat then? (Assuming one believes in such things. And why not, I say?)

(WasWas, I love it! Very Happy )

Mea culpa for my blunder, Aa. I feel quite stoopid! (with good reason!)Embarrassed
