Well a star is born in a cloud ( a dust of left over stars ), That dust drifts away from the cloud, and forms the new star which has a gravitational pull that forms planets in time. It might look like eons or forever for that to happen but the life cycle of a solar system goes on until the end of a suns life.
The sun will either
1. Become a black hole and suck everything into a black dwarf
2. Return to the white dwarf state.
3. Explode
I forget but their are so many outcomes. Point being is that those clouds are formed from the death of a star, which births new stars.
NOTE: Space has no colors. These are all suggestive colors by scanning of radiation, or even translating via computer generated colors.
