I have two extra credit word problems and I can not figure them out. I am probabley thinking too much. Here they are:
1.A traveler set out on a journey and stopped only when he had returned tohis starting point. During that journey, his head traveled 36 feet farther than his feet, yet his feet remained attachted to his body. What is the explanation for this?
2. You can use three identical digits in a simple addition sum so that the total is 12. you cannot use the digit 4, so what is the answer??
Thanks for the help! Getting headache over htese!

1)If the travelor is 5'8" they traveled arounnd the equator (once) standing up.
Soln.
The earth is 4000 miles in diameter, The travelors feet traveled at 0 feet elevation and his head at 5'8" elevation
Ch-Cf=5'8"*2*3.14158 is about 36 feet
2) 12=3*3+3

I'd guess either that or it was submerged in water.
