I knew you were a fan of Joyce, didn't know if you were aware of that one.
Syd Barrett was the lost genius of Pink Floyd. He was the prime mover on the first few albums but lost it big time, (I think copious amounts of hallucinogens may have played a part.)
He left the band, recorded some solo albums, of which Golden Hair was part, then disappeared.
The Pink Floyd song, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, is about him, the lyrics Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far, were pretty accurate.
There is a story that he walked into the studio during the recording of the album, but it may be apocryphal.
He did turn up about thirty years later, he'd been sleeping on the floor at his mother's flat all this time.
