@edgarblythe,
My opinion on this topic is rather restrained. As a gay man (lifelong) I do concede that certain humans wish to be considered the sex opposite to their biological predisposition. Theoretically, that is fine with me and should be fine with everyone. But ... there are exceptions. For example, it is grossly unfair for biological males to be allowed to compete in women's sports. And it is testing my patience to allow young children to be able to make the gender decision whenever it strikes their fancy.
There is more to this topic than meets the eye. Today, it seems that the New Left wants children to override their parental guidance at every whim. This is not only ridiculous, but dead wrong. There has to be a throttle on this newfound freedom and it had better be implemented poste haste.
To assert that children always know more than anyone older speaks of an idiocy. I think that a certain age of maturity should be a prerequisite for such profound decisions, perhaps very late adolescence or young adulthood. Not every child who was allowed to decide for him- or herself was happy with that youthful decision. - David Lyga
