I feel sorry for the poor bastards that have no tools. You might find a pliers, or a screwdriver, or sometimes a ball-peen hammer in one of their junk drawers.

But that's all they have.

Sad really.

I save my sympathy for the fellows who are tools. One usually encounters them in the Politics forum.

I used to have a large sledge hammer in Venice; now have a small one up here. They're useful to have around.
Have a five foot pry bar, which I call a spearchukker, and a masonry hammer, and various crow bars.

Of those, I've found the pry bar the most useful over time.

Damn, I can't pack all this stuff, going to have to make choices...

I have a rather large one, known as the "Irish screwdriver".

It is very handy for driving poles into the earth. The French and the Dutch seem to splat too easily, but the Poles must have a thicker cranium, and go in quite easily.

If you don't have a sledgehammer, how do you expect to bash in your ex-girlfriend's front door? It's an important tool, almost as essential as nipple clamps.

Getting away from sledgehammer talk for just a minute, let's examine jpin's photographic contribution...

First, look at that black guy. What a cool guy! Such a pose!

And the girl -- the personification of haughtiness.

The guy in the middle simply looks like the poster child for the School of Dorks.

How dare you talk about Sledge Hammer like that... if he were around, Gus, I'm sure he would be quite upset.

I would easily dispatch Sledgehammer. One thundering punch from my powerful fist would send him reeling.

I am one mean son of a bitch.

We have one of those - we call it "The Rock Harpoon".

I can't believe this insipid thread is six pages long.

show me round your fruitcage
'cos I will be your honey bee
open up your fruitcage
where the fruit is as sweet as can be

I want to be your sledgehammer
why don't you call my name
you'd better call the sledgehammer
put your mind at rest
I'm going to be-the sledgehammer
this can be my testimony

Osso, we had one of those spearchukkas on a dig I did out in Utah. We used it to dig holes for our outhouses. That was some seriously good upper body exercise.
