@gollum,
Increasingly services are moving online. Those without a reliable Internet connection will have trouble doing schoolwork (especially with the pandemic), doing banking, applying for jobs, getting and managing insurance, getting the best prices while shopping, etc. It's not so much that the services are being denied but that barriers are rising up as companies move more online to make access harder and harder.

@engineer,
Not to mention, my phone directory is almost useless. Even to get a repair number for my phone company (CenturyLink) you need internet access. My computer was in for repair at Staples. They are not listed, either. Lack of internet almost means lack of phone.

@roger,
Do you not have a cell phone, roger? It is tough without the internet. I've looked up and entered all the relevant contact numbers into a physical address book for just that reason.

Getting a good example of the future now. I rented a car for work a couple of weeks ago and the charge hasn't shown up on my corporate card so I can't get my expense report in. I've been on hold for fifteen minutes with reminders periodically that routine stuff can be handled online. Their customer service is terrible but since most people do stuff online it doesn't matter.
