Last year we had to put our 19 year old Border Collie down. She had the loveliest temperament. Just a nice, sweet girl who loved to chase squirrels. We took her to a sheep farm in Didsbury one day where the farmer taught us owners how to teach them to herd. But... (never start a sentence with but, but...), she was allowed into the area and immediately started herding, even though she'd never ever seen a sheep. She was amazing and I still have the video Smile

We still have a 17 year old Giant Pom (an oxymoron if there was ever one) and a 16 year old Beagle. The Pom is starting to tremor, which the vet said was predictable at this age. Not looking forward to his end as he's just adorable.

Anyway, couldn't respond to the other thread about name-calling, so thought I'd say hi this way. I haven't been on here for a few days and just noticed that exchange. I, too, would like to know what dastardly names I called him.

@Mame,
Everyone who has ever had the pleasure of sharing your life with a beloved dog or cat knows that pain and hurt you feel when the end comes. On another note, the thread where you are called a liar and a name-caller wasn't based on anything true. It's just more evidence of the unraveling of an unhappy and dissatisfied person. Pay them no mind, no one else does.

But thank you for your kind remarks.

Sorry for you loss, GB.

All of us who have had a pet cat or dog know the kind of pain you are feeling.

I still have twinges of sadness when a late pet comes to mind...even decades later.

Love the ones still with you even more in remembrance.

Sorry for.your loss.

I’m a former Border Collie owner/custodian. You gotta love them no matter what they do or get into. Sometimes with BC it can be a matter of finding them as they may have chased the mail truck down the road (if you’re that lucky).

My time with Brady was very special. My sincere sympathy for what you’ve gone through and will go through. Pets are amazing as to how they can communicate and share the love. May your memories be wrapped in that love.

@glitterbag,
I'm sure you saw that President Obama's dog passed away recently. He was interviewed yesterday and made the following comment.

Quote:
“There’s a well-known saying in Washington, ‘If you want a friend, get a dog,’” the former president said. “Well, I got one because I needed a friend during the presidency who would be nice to me no matter what. “

Obama later noted that trolls often take over the comments of his social media posts. He said his and former first lady Michelle Obama’s tributes to Bo, who moved into the White House in April 2009, “are the only posts where everybody posted something nice.”

“I can’t tell you how many people said, ‘You know, I think you were the worst president ever but here’s my dog and I really feel sorry for you because I know how close I was with my dog,’” Obama said.

“It actually told you something about how important people’s pets are in their family’s lives,” he added. “As I was reading these comments, it did make me sometimes think, ‘Gosh, if we could be as kind and thoughtful toward each other as we are about our pets, we’d be doing a little bit better.’”

@engineer,
I feel for the Obama's, his statement was honest, simple and elegant in its simplicity.

@glitterbag,
The good people acknowledge that; the others - who cares?
