Rachael, Generally speaking, it's not a good idea to sell before living in a home for two years - if there is profit to be made.

Yes, I know. We are not planning to sell. I was just saying I don't know how much we would get for our house if we were to sell.

Ask your local realtor for local market values.

No, don't ask them! They would pest you to no end, thinking
you may be in the market to sell. Realtors are worse than
any used car salesman.

I have a question, I know this girl that just bought a 2005 house, and she is selling it now, does she get a penatly? or how does that work. b/c she buys houses like its nothing and lives in them for alittle bit then sells them and she is not a realtor, I don't even thinks she has a real job.....

She doesn't get a "peanlty," but there is no tax advantage, and she will lose all the costs associated with the sale.

She can still ask a realtor on the basis of "interest in value" rather than interest in selling.
