Thing is, what's the alternative? Corporations only really care about the bottom line. And we certainly can't have the government step in because that's
socialism and I doubt the state's ability to host content critical of itself.
I can imagine theoretical approaches toward solutions for these problems but, somewhat like your first example, they only work in a world that doesn't exist.
