Abandoned cottages, fake offices and asylums

Anyone stumbled into abandoned cottages and fake offices like something you would see during the atomic age and the atom bomb, and places related to the asylums? What were these offices and and cottages used for really? Someone told me it had to do with nazi germany and turkey genocide. Then one day I ran into a group of suspicious people - maybe they sensed something? Do I have to be scared?
