Chess as art

A friend emailed me this link to a cool chess program. You can actually see the computer consider its moves. Lines are drawn to show all of the potential moves and countermoves many turns into the future that the computer is considering before it takes its turn.

When I got it I thought, now's the chance to learn to play chess. So, I looked up a basic manual on soyouwanna.com. The chess site states that the AI is up to the level of the casual player. So far I've gotten one draw out of a hundred or so games.

I didn't like it. I was well into a game but the optical illusional crap emanating from the board was giving me a headache.
