It’s a waste of time to claim that one technology is better than the other. It is much more sensible to take quartz and automatic watches as separate things altogether. After all, it makes no sense to compare two extremely distinct technologies. More so, since each have their fair share of merits and drawbacks.

Shouldn't it be "each has" instead?

Either "both have their" or "each has its".
