Batman, SUperman, and WOnder WOman compete ina series of daily 2-way races. For each race, the probability that Batman eins is 1/6, the probability that Superman wins is 1/2, and the probability that Wonder Woman wins is 1/3. On a day that Batman doesn't win, what is the probability that Superman beats Wonder Woman?
The probability that Superman wins is
3/6 / (3/6 + 2/6) = 3/6 / 5/6 = 3/5
I think you meant 3-way races.
If Wonder Woman looks like Linda Carter she can beat me any time.
Superman 3/5 Wonder woman 2/5
in a three way race the odds are spread out over six options, but if batman is a sure loser the wins are spread out over five options.
so P(superdooperman)=(1/2)/(5/6)=3/5
and P(spinningboobs)=(1/3)/(5/6)=2/5

By the way, this is called a "conditional probability."
