Mixed Feelings: Financial Problems at the NRA.

So.. it turns out that the people at the head of the NRA, including Wayne LaPierre himself, have been stealing money from the organization.

Part of me thinks this is a bad thing. For whatever my feelings on gun rights, these are hard working Americans who are giving up their hard-earned money for a cause in which they believe.

The other part of me realizes that money stolen from NRA members is money that isn't being used to oppose gun restrictions. It means less money for ads, less money for lobbying and less money for conservative political candidates.

So how should I feel about this?

The NRA has had a profoundly deleterious impact on gun regulation and public safety, all in light of the embezzlement that was occurring throughout the years. The fraud affected their disasterous influence not one penny.

@InfraBlue,
Not at all. What the NRA does is prevent you from violating people's civil liberties.

That deprives you of sadistic pleasure, but it doesn't harm public safety.

You should feel bad for wanting to violate people's civil liberties, and for no reason other than your own sadistic pleasure.

You should feel glad that the NRA prevents you from doing so.

That's just slander from progressives who don't like being prevented from violating people's civil liberties.

@oralloy,
actually it ws from an original charge by Ollie North nd other more respectful of NRAs pat leadership. La Pierre turned on Ollie after Ollie was getting too close to the embezzlement and self dealing that run the NRA. Apparently Mr Bannon was reading La Pierres cookbooks. ****'s gonna make great tv on forensic files after Trump is a bad memory

@farmerman,
Mr. North is a great American who saved the world from the Communist menace, but disagreeing with a CEO's compensation package hardly makes it embezzlement.

@maxdancona,
Who cares, scum ripping off scum. The NRA is a bunch of paedophiles dedicated to shooting up schools.

In any other country they’d be classed as a terrorist organisation because that’s what they are.

That's an outright lie.

Other countries have outlawed freedom. It's no surprise that countries that outlaw freedom regard civil liberties as a horrible crime.

America however remains a free country. Civil liberties are not regarded as terrorism in America.

Well, not really. Actually the NRA does nothing to PROTECT KIDS AND PREVENT the school killings. Ya see how hed maybe confuse the two??
As Americans we know that La Pierre and his minions dont really go out and engage in the killings directly, NRA, with its hammer style of lobbying weak spined legislators, is merely a facilitator of mass killings

@farmerman,
Oralloy has fantasised about urinating on the bodies of children killed in mass shootings. He ‘s typical of the sort that the NRA attracts.

@farmerman,
You don't think having guns in schools protects kids?

@InfraBlue,
Wrong again. Preventing you from violating people's civil liberties for fun does no harm to public safety.

The NRA's push to let schoolteachers be armed protects children.

Even if the NRA had actually been neutral on such matters, izzythepush would still be lying when he blames the NRA for killings.

All the NRA does is prevent you from violating people's civil liberties for no reason.

That doesn't facilitate any mass killings.

@InfraBlue,
No matter how much you deny reality, you're still wrong.

Preventing you from violating people's civil liberties does not harm public safety in any way.

@InfraBlue,
Your denials of reality do not change the fact that you're wrong.

Public safety is not harmed in any way when the NRA prevents you from violating people's civil liberties for no reason.
