The beets we have been buying are either being taken by hoarders or else there aren't any more being canned. More than two weeks the shelves have been bare.

@edgarblythe,
Oof. That’s minimally rough, isn’t it?

I can no longer get my Vernor’s diet ginger ale at Central Market.
It seems like me and one other person fought over who got it first.

I suspect management decided to metaphorically put us both in time out by not carrying it at all anymore.

This has forced me to drink other things.

@chai2,
I love ginger ale....I only drink the diet stuff because the stuff with sugar or fructose crap makes my teeth feel gummy.

@glitterbag,
What ever happened to Schweppes? If I saw it on the shelf, I would buy it, and I've almost my taste for carbonated drinks.

I love carbonated drinks, but no longer drink them. Part of a conscious decision to get most of the sugar out of my house.

Why I drink seltzer water - I like the fizz but not the sugar. And the diet stuff is just chemical crap. If I want more flavor than just the splash of lime or orange you can get with it - I add some cranberry juice (and the 100% juice with no sugar).

But on the darkness side --- cannot get paper towels again. Seems I can find other paper products but not the paper towels. I tried Walmart - if you spend $35 you get free one day delivery --- well for the paper towels it takes a couple of weeks. Ordered it any way as I have been unable to find it in the stores.

And near east rice pilaf. My kids love it and I cannot find it.

@Region Philbis,
Guess ya'll aren't Vernors fans.

That's mildly disappointing.

Vernors is a stronger ginger flavor. Makes you sneeze.

Bundaberg Ginger Beer is the best.
I wouldn't buy it though because sugar.

I first tried it at a restaurant while in San Diego.
It was like "Why did I not know of this before!?"

However, looking, it seems there's a possibility of getting a diet version of it at a Target.
I would not bet the farm on it though.

Sigh inducing as I did not know this before.

@Linkat,
I first tried it in I think Wisconsin.
For some reason the name reminds me of New England
I was surprised when I found it in Texas.

But really, try that Bundaberg Ginger Beer.

It's the cat's meow.

@chai2,
Oh, FYI that Bundaberg isn't alcoholic.

I guess they call it ginger beer instead of ginger ale because it's stronger tasting.

@chai2,
My favorite soft drink of all time is Bundaberg Ginger Beer. It destroys the Far too sweet tasting a Schweppes by a country mile. Once I discovered it while overseas in New Zealand I returned home to find it available often if I looked for it. Oddly, BedBath andBeyond had it in their tiny foodProducts section; However, my supermarket had it too.

@Ragman,
Do they sell it with the ginger ales and colas or elsewhere?

@chai2,
Never heard of Ventnors, but we used to be able to buy "Golden Ginger Ale" which is a darker colored, sneeze inducing, ginger packed soft drink. I haven't been able to find it in years. Golden isn't the brand name, it is just the designation of the soda...either Golden or Pale.

@edgarblythe,
I’ve found it in B, B & Beyond in a sepate section...that was a few special sale items for the home. Supermarket had it in with cola and soda or tonic..in 6_pack.

{edit: I just looked it up online and both Target and Walmart carry it. I personally avoid Walmart like the plague.}

@Ragman,
We don't have any grocery stores that aren't big chains, so go where I can get what I need.

They weren't.
