If President Trump gets sick with Covid-19?

Let's say that President Trump gets seriously ill with Covid-19 (not deathly ill, but very sick) ... how am I supposed to feel about this?

On one hand, he is the president of my country. I would have to consider this a bad thing, wouldn't I?

On the other hand this would be fitting justice in a comedic sense. If the dark comedy that is the Trump administration were fiction, of course the president would fall ill. If I were writing the script, maybe he would find some sort of redemption, or maybe it would end him riding the virus into Armageddon reminiscent of Slim Pickens at the end of Dr. Strangelove.

The virus is now in the White House. So it could happen.

For anyone offended... everyone here already knows I am a bad person. But really! if this clueless president falls ill with the disease he has been consistently downplaying, how am I supposed to react?

@maxdancona,
Think Mike Pence and react with serious fear.

@maxdancona,
Anticipate the swearing in of Nancy Pelosi.

Pence is not a real concern as 'Mother' (his wife) has helped him on the road to rapture. He'll skip the Presidential glitz and settle on a fluffy white cloud where he will stay until judgement day.

Hey, maybe Melania will be like Mrs. Wilson was, when Woodrow had the stroke.

Right now, while we are dealing with this pandemic, Mike Pence is a big step up. Pence will at least be focused on the actual problem rather than in setting up campaign rallies.

@maxdancona,
I can understand people's reactions to what you are saying - and I have heard it about other people - those that went to a rally or said things like if I get covid - I get it.

And then you get all these people writing comments -- they got what they deserved and these guys are idiots, Darwin, etc.

And recently I read about this young women who went up to a large alligator to "pet" it and her friends warned her - and in the end she got killed. Well all these cruel comments - some thought she might have been suicidal and those were nicer posts. But people saying things like Darwin awards and stuff.

So considering all these things - no I would not wish some serious illness on anyone. I know I have been guilty of probably saying things like this - not sure why this particular girl's death hit me of the cruelty written - as she did do something pretty dumb. But I guess it got me thinking - you don't wish this on anyone.

So I guess I would think yeah maybe he was dumb to ignore things or isn't that ironic he caught it. But in the end - it is another person and no I would relish in someone else's suffering.

And yes Pence would take over as President.

@Linkat,
You are a much better person than I am Linkat (but we already knew that).

However, there is a difference between this woman killed by an alligator, and Trump. I don't have any urge to gloat about the woman's demise, it is not even that funny in a twisted way. I would feel dirty laughing about this at any rate.

Trump is a different story. He is a president who has been downplaying the virus and who is responsible for the government response to the virus (which has been pretty poor). It isn't just the "person does stupid thing and pays for it" kind of story.

This is a "nasty leader who insults other people and downplays a serious virus when he should be leading a government response to it gets seriously sick" story.

I find that has much greater comedic value. I would have trouble even feeling sorry for laughing. It is kind of like watching the Witch dissolve at the end of Wizard of Oz... or Scar get devoured by angry hyenas at the end of Lion King.

These are terrible endings we are allowed to enjoy.

@maxdancona,
So, if you fall seriously ill with the virus and I rejoice because you don't agree with me politically and you accuse Trump of a bunch of stuff that I think is fantasy, would you consider that a normal and ethical reaction? The difference between liberals and conservatives is that most of the time, conservatives view their political rivals as people who are wrong and most of the time, liberals view their political rivals as monsters. Yes, I find it offensive.

@Brandon9000,
Don't be such a ******* snowflake, Brandon.

Conservatives branded Obama and Hillary Clinton as monsters. You are not even telling the truth.

Do I really have to explain to you why Trump getting Covid0-19 would be especially ironic? It seems obvious to me, but you seem to be missing the point.

But it doesn't matter. If you are that offended by my post, you shouldn't be on the internet.

I thought you asked us to react to your statement. I guess we had to react with the opinion you wanted. And, yes, I find it offensive that you wish your political enemies dead. As for the idea that Trump doesn't care about Covid-19 victims, that's just typical liberal nonsense, along the lines of Trump being a Russian plant.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, you were not encouraging reaction to your stated feeling?

@Brandon9000,
What I actually said was "how am I supposed to react?". The explicit query was in the context of me explaining my personal feelings.

I think you are getting bent out of shape over nothing.

I am getting it from both sides today. In the other thread I just had to argue with liberals because I think calling Trump a "fascist" is ridiculous.

I'm getting bent out of shape? Maybe you should re-read your response to my post. If you post opinions in a public place and then have a hissy fit when someone disagrees, maybe you "shouldn't be on the Internet."

@Brandon9000,
I am not at all upset with, or annoyed, with any of your posts. You have the right to express your opinions or feelings and you have the right to disagree with me. I read your criticism, considered it and decided there wasn't anything there.

I am merely suggesting that maybe you are making a big deal about nothing. Do with that what you wish.
