@Setanta,
It is indeed - first came across them playing live as a three piece (guitar, double bass and keys) at the Uni Canberra bar on the last day of exams in 1992 - there about 2o of us in the crowd and they were freaking amazing. You can absolutely rock out without drums.

They had two really good albums in them, and reached their commercial peak with the their third album (by which time two of the original three and ended their own lives RIP Stevie and Andy).

Anyway this is the song off their first album where the band and the man intersect:

@hingehead,
The joker who engineered the downfall of Whitlam--WIlliam Colby--was Director of Central Intelligence at the time, and formerly, the CIA operative who ran Air America in the 70s. No lack of slimeballs in that agency.

@Setanta,
Absolutely.

Did you know that little footage from the day of the dismissal still exists

Three major Australian TV news agencies turned up but the story is William Colby organised for all their footage to be destroyed.

Only 7 News Ron Wilesmith's film survived and is in the National Film & Sound Archive. ABC and 9 News' footage has 'mysteriously' disappeared.

The best we have is from the comedian Norman Gunston, who was coincidentally in Canberra that day with a camera and sound guy and is seen in almost all the scenes on parliament house steps with Gough. "Well may we say God save the Queen, because nothing will save the Governor-General"
