Our worst fire season on record. Some 46 million acres (72,000 square miles) of land were burned in thousands of fires across our great land mass. At least 80 percent of the Blue Mountains World Heritage area in NSW and 53 percent of the Gondwana world heritage rainforests in Queensland (QLD) were burned. Some 350 homes destroyed.. 32 Australians died and thousands of livestock and wildlife perished.
I'm not sure where you got 350 homes from.
Just under 3000 homes were destroyed, along with about 2000 other buildings such as outbuildings and businesses.
3000 homes yeh. I had no idea of the exact toll on wildlife and farm stock. Pure guesswork.

Was reading that hundreds of millions of bucks of fire relief has yet to find the people that most need it. I posted during this tragedy on another forum that the Aussie Red Cross kept half of all donations for admin purposes and that people needed to find someone else to handle their donation.

The prehistoric Wollemi Pine survived the fires miraculously. It is reputed to be the worlds oldest living plant. I have a foto of the untouched pine forest but unable to post it here.
..and they are all on this thread? It is good having an Australian sub forum. I try to push our country on an American baby boomer site I belong to. Some are interested.. most ignore me and the other Aussie on there.
I have posted a new riddle. Do you like whodunnits?
