The Farmer household''s best wishes for the holidays to all A2Ker's. Were going to a second night Latke Supper tonight and will be celebrating with other friends and family the next few days.
I think weve done the first night of FESTIVUS in good style, now lets quit airing our grievances and concentrate an the FEETS OF STRENGTH and PEACE ON EARTH, and keeping the damn oil lamp lit.
@farmerman,
And a happy Chanukmas to you and yours as well!
I trust you had a proper Festivus pole and not some fraudulent store-bought one (those occasionally have traces of anti-Festivus metals; such as, titanium).
Happy happy to all. May we all live long and prosper.
@edgarblythe,
We are back from our hannukah feast, but my back is killing me from all the schlepping today. Im gonna crash Happy all.
Literary/theological/historical/demonological question.
Myrhh is one thing. But did Mary Shelly just glue a whole bunch of broken and rotting incense sticks together?
@farmerman,
Our Amish neighbor jut dropped by with a nat box of homemade Sand Tarts and what taste like Shortbred cookies. They wished us FreischTag greetings and then they continued their rounds. Its a nice way to open the day. Its not too cold and the sun is up nice and bright. Guess Ill make the coffee and go feed the chickens and throw the sheep some alfalfa hay.
We had the annual get-together of all interested relatives last evening. I had a better time than in most times past. Today we will go to my oldest daughter's home for a few hours. It's going to get in the 70s, temp-wise.
@edgarblythe,
well we light the fourth candle tonite. We have our Menorah in the window facing the street and everyso often we get a beep from a tractor .
@edgarblythe,
we had our traditional Christmas Lasagna dinner at my wife's youngest sisters home. It was a full house She built three big pans of lasagna (and other stuff).
Lasagna is the traditional meal of the Italians along with the "even fihes" of the Christmas Eve get together. (Whicch was at a cousins place ).
@farmerman,
Oddly, I never heard about lasagna that way. Odder still, lasagna was supplied by our host at the family gathering. Since everybody was asked to bring something to the dinner, we had an assortment to choose from. I especially enjoyed the tortilla soup.
@edgarblythe,
are the tortillas crispy?
@edgarblythe,
You can't get lasagna over here, you'll have to settle for lasagne.
@farmerman,
If they didn't call it tortilla soup you might not think of tortillas at all.

Is there an actual difference?
@edgarblythe,
When I was a kid I thought there was. There probably is, every lasagne I've had has been different, even the ones I make myself.
@izzythepush,
True. The ones we had the other day were more meaty and less cheesy than I expected.
@edgarblythe,
I prefer mincing up a cooked joint of beef to using raw mince. For a start it doesn't keep sticking together like raw mince does.
It does mean that lasagne, (or cottage pie,) is determined on us having a roast a few days previous.
I cook most of the time at home, but it's a dish I never have attempted.
BTW, Jews and Christians are just a bunch of Johnny come latelys, it's Yuletide and it's Pagan.
@izzythepush,
So, you a pagan? I used to do airbrushing of biker helmets and ries of a group of 1% who called themselves "PAGANS MC"
Not a nice bunch but they appreciate my work and they always payed well and on time.
