@izzythepush,
Today, as part of our neighbor visitation ceremony, I hooked up Bonnie and Clyde to a small Amish "dually". They must have had some experience with a harness and reins. I borrowed the cart from an AMish neighbor and went to a friend who raises mulles and has some burros. I used the burro harness and hooked em up.
They took to the experience quite well with one exception. You should make them understand "whooaa".
We went and drove a bit through a wooded path and woun up at a neighbor who has a horse training businss. We got out of the wagon an walked to the house where we spent a few half hours having a little meeting and enjoying Russian Tea. When we came out to look over our new "tem" , they were gone. What happened was that Bonnie or Clyde had loosened the reins and just meandered off through the road. They were going back home for we caught up with them a few minutes later and they were just walking and pulling this little wagon. So I turned em around, went back to the neighbrors where we began a "Donkies for Dummies" session. It appears that donkies, like border collies, need some mental stimulation and just standing there hitched up to a wagon aint that.
Im under a learning schedule (for us all) to exercise the two donkies at least a half hour a day. I went down to our Walmart and got some rubber kiddie basketballs so they have something to kick around in their paddock. And, hiding treats , such as molasses and cracked oats n corn balls is just perfect stimulation for them.
