Machan (also spelled machaan) fits the definition but not your spacing.

Thank you Mike for the word Machan.
This is the correct word, and I did have the spacing incorrect.

Thank you Sunshine, appreciate your reply.
I have now completed the Stinker and hope I am one of the lucky ones to win a prize.
Have been entering for many years now, and although often have all correct have not yet been drawn out of the barrel.
Here's hoping this time is my lucky one.

Thank you Mike, I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Therefore a sleeveless Jacket is possibly a gilet, would that be correct,

Yes it is a mellophone...I know cause I used to play one ;-)

And theref or the answer to sleeveless jacket is:

GILET

gi·let [ Zhee láy ] (plural gi·lets)

noun

Definitions:

1. vest-type bodice: a bodice to a dress or a ballet dancer's costume that is shaped like a vest

2. waist- or hip-length jacket: a light sleeveless jacket, similar to a waistcoat but often longer, and sometimes made of padded or quilted material

Thank you for your reply.
As 222 across is Cannula, I must have 206 down incorrect.
226 D. Insignificant Player: I had PLEB, but it seems it has to be pawn

If son god is Apollo, I then must also have two other answers incorrect.
137d Forcibly repatriates: my answer Disarms, but this places a 's' where there should be a 'p' for Apollo.

Hope you can help

Hi,
I now realise that the answer should be Deport and not disarm and that now completes the crossword, so thank you once again for your help
