Subtract off the triangles
If you put a sqare around your pentagon, you can subtract off the resulting right triangles from the area of your square and find the area. The square has corners at the origin, (6,0), (6,7) and (0,7). If you do that, you will get 29.

Really nice solution Engineer

I was going to recommend plotting the points, dividing the pentagon into three triangles, calculating the leg lengths with the cartesian distance formula, and using Heron's formula for the triangle areas, and summing the areas. But your solution is much much easier.
