The REAL Pink Floyd to reunite!

Reply Tue 14 Jun, 2005 05:17 pm
Holy my balls! Has anyone else read about this? Pink Floyd just announced they are going to reunite for the Live 8 show in London on July 2. That's right the real Floyd, including Roger Waters. I don't believe they've all played together in twenty years.

Saw fake Floyd in 1994 and it was a super damn good show of course.

But I would give my left one, my right one, and my anus if that were possible, to see this show.

Thank you that is all.

I would give my ass herpes to see the show.

Uh, I, uh, mean...I'd give my left nut. HELL YEA!

But wow, guess all we can hope for is they come out with the show on DVD. I've got the Pulse show on DVD, which is awesome, but it's a semi-bootleg I think from UK that was recorded off of the VHS.

Saw them play Knebworth once. Open air gig, beautiful summer evening and everyone was eagerly awaiting the band on stage.
A noise in the distance caused everyone to turn around, in time to see a Spitfire and Hurricane heading straight for us at treetop level.
The entire crowd followed their course as they thundered overhead, and disappeared from view in the direct line of sight of the stage, where the Band had made a quiet entrance, and launched into the first number.
It was the best damn start to a gig that I've ever seen.

The other memorable event that evening, was during the interval, a very stoned young man jumped up on the empty stage and started jerking off.
A Policeman and Policewoman wrestled with him to get him off stage, to massive cheers from the crowd.

A brilliant evening.

I remember when I jumped on stage and started jerking...

Nevermind.

I envy all of you who have seen them before Waters left. I saw them on the Pulse tour Slappy mentioned. I was fifteen and I went with my dad--they played at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, WI.

Where's Syd Barrett? Did he die? Or is he locked up somewhere?

Good question. I remember in 97 he was alive and going to do a show. That would be wild, to see the original lineup do a show.

I saw Pink Floyd's original "Dark Side of the Moon" tour in....75 or maybe 76? Whatever year that tour was. We had so many great venues for seeing concerts in San Francisco back in those days and this one was at the now long gone Winterland where the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Doors also played many times. Front row center balcony. God, that was a GREAT show!

Yeah Slappy, I may be old too, but I still got it going on baby. Smile

edited due to immediate and sustained flashback activity!

I have a live tape from the Wish You Were Here tour. The first set is DSOM. In between songs you can hear Waters talking back to the audience, already getting bitter.

Re: The REAL Pink Floyd to reunite!
Talking of Syd Barrett - can anyone tell me where I can get hold of 'The Effervescent Elephant' ?

Even the lyrics would be good to have.

Peace,
E

They were very good - sounded as good as on record, even after all that time. Apparently their sales have increased by over 1,000% since the concert, and they're giving all the extra money they make to charity.
