Hello, if there are any math wizards out there can you please help me with these problems so you can show me what I am doing wrong. Any help would be awsome. Can you show me how you come up with it.

1. Play-It-Now Sports Center has decided to divide 2/3 of the company's profit sharing funds evenly among the eight store managers. What fraction of the total amount will each receive?

2. Solve for r: 4(r-2) = 2(r+8).

3. Use the formula to find the value of the variable that is not given: I
= PRT; I = $2880, R = 0.08, P = $12,000.

4. From a sample of 80 new home buyers, 24 were first-time home buyers. There were 2480 new homes sold in the county. Find the number of first-time home buyers.

5. 375 patients is what percent of 250 patients?

6. As an antique dealer, Clarence Hanks charges a 25% selling fee. After deducting this fee, Hanks recently paid out $12,570 to his sellers. Find the total amount of his sales.

Thank you so much.

Just one for now....

No 2.

4(r-4)=2(r+8)
multiply out brackets
4r-8=2r+16
collect like terms
4r-2r=16+8
2r=24
r=12

simple

Why don't you show your work?
Why don't you post how you would solve the problem and we can help you improve? We don't want to do your homework for you, but lots of people will help if it looks like you are putting forth the effort.

if they are paying out 2/3 that equal approx 67%. divide that by 8 managers..you get 67/8 = 8.375% per manager.

no. 3

i=prt
2880=(0.08)*(12000)*t
divide 2880 by 0.08*12000
you get t= 3

or look at it as i/pr=t

$12,570 is 75%

100% is $12570 divided by 75 x 100

SO GLAD!
I am so glad I found this site! I am exhausted ! I have been looking for resources and I am all tapped out. I have Asperger's Syndrome (it's an Autism spectrum disorder) and I am having a heck of a time getting math to click so many of the explanatory posts in the forum have been really helpful. I get really embarrassed when we are in the chat portion of my class because my professor seems a bit short with me as if that is going to make me catch on any faster. It' just makes me more anxious and adds to my confusion. Not to mention it's been more than 15 years since I was in a math class! I thought going back to school was going to be easy, I forgot about MATH, literally! It's nice to see so many of you willing to help those of us who have challenges with math. Thank you in advance, I know you will see me quite often.
