how can you get the percent of a given number?

like for this one,

mentally calculate the 60% of $37.

10% of $37 is $3.70.

6 * $3 = $18

6 * .70 = $4.20

$18 + $4.20 = $22.20

60% of $40 is $24. 60% of $3 is $1.80. $24 minus $1.80 is $22.20.

10% of $37 = $3.70
18.50+3.70=$22.20
