If the probability of getting a red marble from a bag is 3/8, What is the probability of NOT getting a red marble?!
a. 1 - 3/8
b. 3/8 - 1
c. 1 + 3/8
d. 1 3/8
The probablility of all of the possible alternatives must add to one. When you draw a marble from the bag, either you do get a red marble, or you do not, so the probabilities must add to 1. Hence, since the first probability is given as 3/8, the second probability must be 1 - 3/8.
