Nudity & why it is a negative thing in US society

Occupational health and safety issues.

If nudity were common, it would desexualize the human body.

That would make it much less fun.

As to strip teases, they don't usually do a thing for me. They seem so danged rehearsed and rarely deliver.
They often just bore me.

Lot's of us are thrilled by a good strip tease, professional is fine sometimes... with a partner it is even better.

The act of removing clothing is great as foreplay. I assume you believe in foreplay.

What is interesting is that nudity has a long history going back to biblical times. However, when we were children growing up in Sacramento, there used to be a public bath where whole families bathed together with others. We are the only animals who hide our sexuality. I remember my visits to China many decades ago where bathrooms were used by both sexes. However, Roman baths had walls between the men and women sides. It seems only sculptures and paintings are allowed to show the nakedness of humans.

Isn't China still pretty sexually conservative? I don't imagine very much public nudity in China... but then I don't know very much about Chinese culture.

In anthropology classes in college I remember reading about sexual attitudes in cultures that have nudity. Men still regard breasts as sexual, even in cultures where they are always bare.

For some reason I found that interesting.

Nudity is seen as negative in societies that repress sex quite a lot, e.g. in most Muslim countries. Of course, all societies regulate sex one way or the other, but some more than others.

In the US (and on A2K), representations of sex and nudity are feared much more than those of violence. You can write here that you want to nuke millions of people, and nothing will happen to your post. But show one single nipple, and your post will be tagged NSFW and removed from sight, as happened to one of my recent posts showing a painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, "girl defending herself against Eros".

To be fair it sported two nipples. That was really pushing it...

I agree with you on the principle. However ...

I don't think it's the nudity in that particular painting. It is the depiction of a child in a sexual context.

Motives are hard to guess of course, but the context doesn't look particularly sexual to me. I think the painting would have been nsfwed without the child (Eros).

NSFW only disappears from sight if that's how you've set up your preferences.

The fact that this thread was marked NSFW despite nothing in this thread displays anyone visually naked and nothing explicitly sexual has yet to be posted? That's kind of telling.

It depends on the nude body. There are some bodies I really do not want to see clothed forget about nude.

As far as other negatives
Very cold in the winter time
Sanitary purposes - for example you want to sit on a bus after some naked butt and stuff was just there
Any sort of food places (there is a reason that you need to wear even shoes a and shirt in restaurant) - I mean workers need to wear hats to prevent hair in food what about body hair
Sunburns
Potential for injuries on those parts that hang

I probably can come up with other stuff but that is just off the top of head
