Chai Tea, yes, but you can't say shitzsu. <smile>.
Hmmm. Frankly, I don't like How Much is That Doggie in the Window.
there's also a homer & jethro parody, might be mutt in the window.
wipeout is a wipeout, then. hee hee.
i thought can't take my eyes off you by Frankie Valli's pretty cool.
Wayne Newton, on the other hand, blows.
Hmmm. I don't get Edgar's thread. Wouldn't it be more fun like this:
The answer my friend, is blowin' in the wind.
Nobody listens to Moby, so blow me.
...get it?
Well Blow me down.
Tell me -
Which is correct?
Blow chunks or
hurl chunks?
Sorry that I don't have a song for edgar, but Dennis has now become a Cat 4 hurricane. Sheeeeeeeze. Now that's a song that I do NOT want to hear.
<hey! I thought this was going to be a sea shanty thread. Backing out slowly>
For laughs, and to terrorize my girlfriend in the car, I bought "Arista 1975-1985, A Decade of Hits," on cassette for a buck at the thrift store.
Includes such crappy songs as:
I Write the Songs--Manilow
All By Myself--Eric Carmen
Don't Cry Out Loud--Melissa Manchester
I'll Never Love This Way Again--Dionne Warwick
Making Love Out of Nothing at All--Air Supply
Pure evil.
That tape could be the soundtrack to an abortion. We listened to it ONCE on a car trip, last summer. The songs are still in our heads.
Many songs blows. You all just don't want to admit it. When it's the artist instead of the song that blows, I make allowances. For instance, I can't stand the sound of Aaron Neville's voice, but that don't mean the song blows.

Seasons In The Sun
Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.
Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family.
You tried to teach me right from wrong.
Too much wine and too much song,
wonder how I get along.
Goodbye, Papa, it's hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Little children everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, all have gone.
Goodbye, Michelle, my little one.
You gave me love and helped me find the sun.
And every time that I was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
when all the bird are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
With the flowers ev'rywhere.
I whish that we could both be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfishs on the beach
See, I liked "theyre coming to take me away ho ho "
HOW BOUT
"YOU MUST WHIP IT"
or the abismalist stupid pap song,
"THE EDMUND FITZGERALD"
Any time one posts a topic like this it is sure to step on someone's toes. Purely subjective and not intended to upset anyone. Somebody here said they hate MacArthur's Park, for instance. I happen to like the song, but what the hay.
Just to clarify: To say something (or someone) "blows" is to insult that thing (or person).
Yes? Good. Now bash on regardless!

"Whip It" rocks! So does that crazy video!
I guess it takes an appreciation for what Devo was into. I think they were MIT students or something, but minimalism was the motif. I find the songs and the style can grow on you after a while. I'd put Gary Numan in the same category. I've been getting into the whole synth pop thing.
But opinions vary!
I used to make my little brother very angry when I would change the lyrics to The Long and Winding Road to The Long and Boring Song. I don't really think that one blows, just a bit overlong for the material.
Was it Phil Spector that screwed that one up?
I know Lennon wanted it accoustic, but then McCartney put in all the strings.
Mmmm. Here's a question (not to derail the thread, but maybe just to ponder), what's the worst Lennon/McCartney song?
