Fightin Side of Me

I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.
An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides,
An' standin' up for things they believe in.
When they're runnin' down my country, man,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.

I read about some squirrely guy,
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'.
An' I wonder just how long,
The rest of us can count on bein' free.
They love our milk an' honey,
But they preach about some other way of livin'.
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.

I can help

If you got a problem, don't care what it is
If you need a hand, I can assure you this
I can help, I got two strong arms
I can help

It would sure do me good to do you good
Let me help

It's a fact that people get lonely, ain't nothing new
But a woman like you baby should never have the blues
Let me help, I got two for me
Let me help

When I go to sleep at night you're always a part of my dream
Holding me tight and telling me everything I wanna hear
Don't forget me baby, all you gotta do is call
You know how I feel about you, if I can do anything at all
Let me help, if your child needs a daddy, I can help

It would sure do me good to do you good
Let me help

When I go to sleep at night you're always a part of my dream
Holding me tight and telling me everything I wanna hear
Don't forget me baby, all you gotta do is call
You know how I feel about you, if I can do anything at all
Let me help, if your child needs a daddy, I can help

It would sure do me good to do you good
Let me help

They're Coming To Take Me Away

Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees and begged you
Not to leave because I'd go beserk?
WELL,

You left me anyhow and
Then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone completely
out of my mind

AND

(chorus 1):
They're coming to take me away,
Haha, they're coming to take me away,
Ho ho, hee hee, ha ha,
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice young men
In their clean white coats
And they're coming to take me AWAY,
HA HAAAA

You thought it was a joke,
and so you LAUGHED, YOU LAUGHED!
When I had said that losing you
Would make me flip my lid,

RIGHT?

You know you laughed.
I HEARD you laugh, you laughed
And laughed and laughed
And then you left,
But now you know I'm utterly mad

AND

(chorus 2):
They're coming to take me away,
Haha, they're coming to take me away,
Ho ho, hee hee, ha ha,
To the happy home with trees and flowers
And chirping birds and basket weavers
Who sit and smile and
Twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away,
HAHAAAAAAAAA

I cooked your food,
I cleaned your house,
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind unselfish loving deeds

HUH?

Well, you just wait,
They'll find you yet,
And when they do, they'll put you in
the ASPCA, you mangy MUTT,

AND

(chorus 1)
(chorus 2)
(chorus 1 trailing into mumbles in the distance)

"Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You"

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like heaven to touch. I wanna
hold you so much. At long last love has
arrived. And I thank God I'm alive. You're
just too good to be true. Can't take my
eyes off you.

Pardon the way that I stare. There's nothing
else to compare. The sight of you leaves me
weak. There are no words left to speak.
But if you feel like I feel. Please let me know
that it's real. You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

I need you baby, and if it's quite all right,
I need you baby to warm a lonely night. I love
you baby. Trust in me when I say: Oh pretty
baby, don't bring me down I pray. Oh pretty
baby, now that I found you, stay. And let me
love you, oh baby let me love you, oh baby....

You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

WELL YOU MANAGED TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF MY FAVORITE SONGS! One man's tea...

Merle by the way renounced his song ...I believe it haunts him to this day.

edgar, I love Can't Take my Eyes off of you. The Lettermen, right? I'm not certain what you mean by "songs that blow", however.

I recently heard a remake of "These Boots Are Made For Walking" by Jessica Simpson. I would have to say it blew!

I'd probably have a stroke trying to sit through that.

Oh wait, it just started raining here, I have to go get my cake.

Well, my goodness. I finally got it. Rolling Eyes

Sorry, edgar. I love that song that you think sucks, and I can't think of any particular one that I despise right now.

hm, i think a song 'blows' if it's good, but my slang isn't always trendy. so, i may be 100% misinterpreting M. D'artagnan's comment, but i don't much care for Wipeout, whereas Pipeline by the Chantays is a classic, IMO.

When that hideous laughter begins Wipeout I dive for the volume control. Managed to hurt myself a few times.
