June is Black Music Month. What does one do to participate in, celebrate and/or observe the event?

Born in DC in 1939. His first hits came in 1962, including Stubborn Kind of Fellow and Hitch Hike. This song is from 1970 and it still rings true today.

Self Destruction - The Stop the Violence Movement

The Stop the Violence Movement was formed by rapper KRS-One.

During a Boogie Down Productions and Public Enemy concert, a young fan was killed in a fight; galvanized
into action, KRS-One founded the Stop the Violence Movement. Comprised of some of the biggest stars in
contemporary East Coast hip-hop, the movement released a single ('Self Destruction') in 1989 with all
proceeds going to the National Urban League.

@Real Music,
I remember that. Thank you for posting that. I was going to post that and you beat me to it.

They also made a sequel to it:

Nice to know I'm not the only person here who likes Motown music. I miss Motown music.

@JGoldman10,
I actually saw Run DMC in concert in the early 1980s. I think it was around 1983 or 1984.

I grew up on Motown music.
The Jackson 5, The Miracles, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder,
Marvin Gaye, and so many other Motown acts.

@Real Music,
So did I. I liked them too. I think you forgot the 4 Tops and Smokey Robinson and Otis Redding.
