The best answer to this question is "A light year is the distance that light travels in one year". Any student in a science class should know that.

This distance happens to be

5,865,696,000,000 miles or
9,460,800,000,000 kilometers

I hope they are not making you memorize these numbers.

There is no reason for you to know them. I have a physics degree... and I just had to look them up since I don't have them memorized. Memorizing numbers is a waste of time and brain space.

I think, and I hope, that if you understand that light travels a distance of one light year every year you will do well on this part of the MCAS.
