@Pio Cain,
(x+2) means "the quantity (total) of x+2"
3(x+2) means "3 multiplied by the quantity of x+2"
If x=5, substitute 5 for the x
(5+2)=7
So, 3 multiplied by the quantity (5+2) = 21

If x= 20
20 + 2 = 22
3 x 22 = 66
