How many liters are there in a gallon.

Over here, I used to have to convert litres into gallons on my expenses claim each month, and the easiest way I did it was to multiply litres by .22.

10 litres x .22 = 2.2 gallons. I have never heard of the American pint being smaller.....now I'll have to find the "learn something new " thread again.

Another way of remembering things to do with metric things, are the following couple of rhymes :-

"A litre of water's a pint and three quarters."

"A Metre of s**t is a yard and a bit".

I am surprised nobody has asked about perches, poles, furlongs and acres.
Now it's all being changed to "Hectares" (10,000 sq mtrs).

If you are just about to go metric with your measurements for cooking etc , any entrepreneurs over there should buy bulk lots of plastic measuring jugs from Britain (really cheap)......imperial measures marked on one side....metric on the other. Sell like hot cakes (excuse the cooking pun).

Were you caught by one of them, Lord Elpus?

Just out of curiosity.

No need to be caught Gus, times were hard, rationing and all that....I made an average two bottles of Bourbon a night and silk stockings which made things easier through the winter. I had a bugger of a job finding a suspender belt to fit me though.
It all started when I asked a Yank if he had a fag......

And another thing, Lord. I understand we are on the same platform in some sort of political campaign.

We had better start getting the skeletons out of the closet now, because the devious group led by the sinister Sozobe will be sure to uncover them eventually.

Like the British elections, I've had overkill. I dont mind when they play fair like English girls, but your lot are more devious than Blair.
Laying low for a while, and then hit them when they least expect it......

Oh god....she doesnt miss a trick. We'll have to open up a "men only" thread Gus.....we could all stand in the corner, spit and swear a lot, and talk about gadgets .....and garden sheds.....and ask relevant "man" questions like...why dont women put the lid back up when they've finished?.....what thinks you?

We have to come up with an appropriate thread title to ensure ourselves that no woman would enter.

What would it be?

I like the metric system,
a liter is 1000 cm^3 a gallon (US) is 231 in^3 and a in=2.54 cm. Figure it out!

Y like the metric system---a liter of water is 1 kilogram. A cubic meter is 1000 liters and a metric ton of water.

Too bad it's a French plot started by Ben Franklin.

As the female is reknowned for its curiosity and a tendency to not do what it is told, titles like "Not for Women", "Females not allowed" and "For Men only" would only cause the entire A2K population of such people to sneak a peek. A failure to do so would only cause them anxiety and insomnia.

IMO, the title has to be something that would act as a natural attractant to men, but would not raise the slightest interest for women.

Maybe something like " I have a technical engineering question", or "50 years of Football statistics" .

Titles with the words "Penis", "Money", "Naked", "Sex", "Toy", "Cooking", "Children", "Pets", "Shoes", "Chocolate" and "Fetish" should be avoided.

dlowan, your suggestions are too realistic. The boys are
ashamed of topics like that, as they discuss such only
on an anonymous hotline for the geriatric challenged ones. Wink
