It already does happen. My roommate has a deal with a friend that they will get married, simply because they like different kitchen appliances. They would receive the gifts and split. How clever. I would marry a man that would plan ahead and keep track of what we barter for what, kind of an inventory. i would not mind doing all the manual labor, would prefer that. i can milk cows too, if that is a skill one does not forget, like biking. and i can ride horses too, perhaps someone would give me a duck for seeing me ride a horse?
if I had a duck, I would.
Wouldn't an engagement work?
You can have lots of those.
do people give gifts for an engagement? they should. you can provide for yourself for life that way!
"in a limited time engagement..."
If you move around a lot. And get lots of groups of new friends. Who don't know the old friends. Or, like, join a website with lots of generous saps who...
...hey!
yay! just for the record, i really want a good kitchen robot: mixer, chopper, scraper, shredder...all in one. now i need to find someone to get engaged to... hmmmm
hm. is he an a2k member? if so, it is a match!!! (how long is the 'limited time' in that engagement?)
I'm guessing until about age 45.
That ISN'T Craven!
he has a beard and glasses, now.
i will have to think about it a bit more (perhaps until I'm 44 1/2).
the sumo guy is chad rowan from oahu hawaii. the first foreigner to achieve the rank of yokozuna (the highest level) in sumo. at 6'8" he had a lot of leverage.
btw, he made a bunch of bucks in sumo and can purchase lots of appliances.
if i remember correctly, rowan went by the name "akebono"
there's another sumo guy from hawaii of samoan descent that achieved the rank of yokozuna "musashimaru". his real name escapes me right now.
you know, i really do not insist on being engaged to a sumo wrestler, really. any manually skilled smaller man will do!
something along the lines of a butler?
Hmmmmm - that is a good question - what sort of man/men would it be good to become engaged to?
butler with organizing/book-keeping skills would be grand. should be able to ride a horse too. wouldn't be bad if he was good-looking: it is better for the trade that way (the barter trade). should be a great orator and it would be charming if he could draw portraits with pencil. he should know a bit about wine and be able to cook. did i leave anything out?
yup, you forgot the famous "having a sense of humor"
nah, i need the man for work. but he could charm the ladies at the open market with a witty humour, sure. as long as he brings home the duck and potatoes!!!
