In the confines of your poll and in the confines of rock and roll I voted AC/DC although the Stones are conspicuously absent.

Neither are my favorite rock band but I'm trying to be objective.

Unfortunately, no one on your list.

Oh, I see that bluevein has already mentioned the Stones being conspicuously absent.

Led Zeppelin's absence is also conspicuous; not that I would choose them personally, but I thought they were much revered by the metal faithful.

deadhead's might wonder about the omission of *their* favorite band, also. again, they're not necessarily who i'd personally choose.

Since Pink Floyd isn't mentioned in the poll, I assume this thread shall soon be sent over to the Humor forum?

Led Zeppelin? Metal? Did I miss something here. Classic Rock definately.

My vote goes to Opeth which isnt on the list and probably shouldnt be because they arent popular but they are by far better and more talented instrumentally than all those bands and most bands you could mention. BUt oh well the radio never liked talent to begin with.

Speaking of which, maybe "The Beatles," "The Drifters," or "The Lovin' Spoonful."

Please don't mention the Loving Spoonful in the same thread as the Rolling Stones or I will be forced to come over there and rip your lungs out.

uh. REM.

The Eagles

and The Grateful Dead for christsakes...... \\\\\

Can we start a poll that will list the bands by votes....????

Two votes for the Grateful Dead.

First off, in response to having Nickleback as an option:

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

WHy not add Creed up there, too?

Led Zeppelin gets my vote. For one, they had a band full of incredible talent, had the longetivity, may possibly be the most influential rock band in history, much sampled/copied(of course they probably ripped off a lot of blues artists), oh, and their music was absolutely amazing.

When you get 1/8th of a clue about music, come on back to your thread to discuss.

Well, JOE, the Lovin' Spoonful had many wonderful hits like "Do You Believe in Magic," "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice," and "Younger Girl," later co-opted by The Critters. The Rolling Stones, did too, of course, as anyone could verify by listening to one of the "Hot Rocks" albums. Spoonful? Stones? Personal taste, I guess. And you know, JOE, my whole family is from Westchester, so maybe we can discuss it further sometime soon.

Brandon, with all due respect, phhhhfffft, this thread is about rock bands, ROCK bands, ROCKem Rollem, shake your booty, makehershaker moneymaker ROCK bands....Do you believe in magic..? ....yuk yuk yuk, maybe if we were discussing the Genesis of Lollipop Rock you'd get a vote but for rock and roll,,,,, and the word greatest..... it's only the Stones. Forty fukcing years of rock and roll, ain't nobody living or dead that's done that... .

Oh, and I thought John was an embarrassment at Woodstock.
