On the phone, how do you answer the question "Can I speak to Paul?" (if you are Paul) in British and American English?

I can't speak for Americans, but if someone phones up and asks to speak to me I normally give them one word answer, "Speaking."

The works in the US as well. The other answer is "this is he".
