I think that when a priest reaches retirement age that the Catholic Church takes care of him through the provision of free housing, food, healthcare, etc.
I think that if a priest decides to leave the church at any point prior to retirement that he leaves without any financial support.
If I am correct, perhaps those priests who have engaged in child abuse really wanted to leave the church but could not afford to.
Is the above correct?
