This sounds so good - but don't you have to be right at the computer to use it? It doesn't seem to me that you can have extensions in other areas; you're locked in to the area immediately around your computer. True or false?

False.

You can plug the main phone into a USB socket and then just use the usual wireless phones around the house as normal.

Or you can eliminate the PC completely by getting a phone that has built in Wi-Fi and communicates directly with your wireless router. You don't even need a PC in the same street for that !
