hey again everyone, can yall please help me interpret this poem i have 28 poems that i have to write 100-150 word reflections on and i am having some trouble with this one
Quote:Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho! the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,
Thou dost not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As friend remember'd not.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho! the holly!
This life is most jolly.
- William Shakespeare
if you can help i'd really appreaciate it thanks a million!
Well, luv, why not attempt an explication of Shakespear's poem yourself, and let those of us here who can, critique your evaluation.
well i have a really hard time interpreting poems and i just can't ever seem to get what they are about until someone explains it to me...
Love, don't underestimate yourself. What is Shakespeare comparing here? The cold wind with what? The holiday and friends and lovers. He is being quite cynical.
