The only way I will endorse the purchase of small animals is if the owner is sure to have plenty of time to play and care for the animal. Too many get all this love and attention until the owner gets board and then the little darling is locked in their cage until they die, with only eating and pooping as activity. Sad

Have you ever had a small animal? Guinea Pig, hamster, etc....

Small animals are time consuming. I am not particularly familiar with ferrets but I would assume they are the same as any other small animal.

Just a few thoughts.

They do smell more than most animals but I think people just get used to it. Very Happy

Eeks! Ferrets are cute n' all, but they have a lot of downsides.

Yes, they are stinky. They are also very, very social. You need to spend a lot of time with them or else they turn into little gremlins. Getting 2 ferrets doesn't help - they need people time. If you don't handle them regularly (every day, at least 20 mins) they start biting and acting out.

I'm not a big fan. I'd consider other pets.

Knew a fella once who had ferrets - nosy little critters, and inventively inquisitive. It was not at all unusual to hafta dump one outta a boot or a jacket sleeve before putting it on, or to open a cupboard and see one idignantly staring back at you. A certain faint, musky oder was evident upon entering the house - but the critters did use a litterbox which the owner maintained well; I imagine things coulda been worse. Fella had no mice, though.
