SCARY DREAMS!!

Reply Fri 25 Feb, 2005 06:50 am
I know this is silly but I had such an awful dream the other night that it woke me up.

My dream-I was in the spare room with the door open. All of a sudden the door handle started to turn and the door closed and i heard someone say 'SLOW OPEN'.

On hearing this I woke up so scared, not in a cold sweat or anything but i just laid there with such a sense of dread and fear that I can still remember it vividly.I wouldnt class it as a nightmare because it was like a 3 second dream!

Dreams are meant to be a reflection of things happening in oyur life arnt they?I dont know how this is relevant to mine.

Care to share any scary dreams?

Have you ever had one of those dreams where you try to scream and nothing comes out.... I had a dream once where I was in my house, but everything was different... people were everywhere and I was in a party jungle atmosphere... anyuways to make this dream short.. i was running around like crazy and had hair sprouting out of my cheeks and chin.. Everytime I pulled them out with my han they got bigger and grew back in in less than a minute..anywho it was kinda scary and I woke up pulling at my cheeks trying to remove the hair... I was freaked out for over a week always feeling my face..!! I used to have this reacurring(sp?) dream where I would watch my grandparents get hacked to pieces and I couldn't move to save them!!

Eek!!I hate it when dreams spill over into reality.

I always used to dream about finding a dead body and Id assume everybody would reckon Id killed them so Id have to keep it hidden.
The stress was horrid during the dream!!

Used to have the slow motion running-away dream. Where something is chasing you but you can only flee at the speed of Alaskan molassas.

Now I have frustrating dreams where I have to configure the same computer equipment over and over again... I think I need a hobby.

Haven't had a nightmare in ages but I remember waking up after one terrified and my stomach would be 'jiggly', for lack of a better description. Like my innards were shaking from the fear.

I used to wake up with a start, not from a dream, exactly, but from a sound that came from my mind. Do you remember that AT&T noise? The sort of BONG when a call went through? It was like that and I'd jump awake.

I have had nights where I have shot straight out of bed and I can't figure out why!! I don't remember my dream but next thing I know I am sitting straight up in bed, sweating bullets and panting loudly (don't get any sick ideas)!!

I have several recurring disturbing dreams:

1. I suddenly discover that I am missing a finger and don't know how it happened.

2. It's the last chapter of a murder mystery and the detective has assembled everyone in the parlor, and I KNOW he is about to reveal that I am the murderer.

3. I just miss an airline connection. It is always Air France that I miss (I have never flown that airline in reality). Usually the flight is going to Russia. In the most recent dream, I miss the flight because security detains me for having used the name "Ed Harris" on a job application in 1985.

Is that a dream? Seems like I read that the sensation of falling just as you're drifting off to sleep is really your body relaxing into the sleep state but you're still concious and reading the sensation wrong and jolt yourself awake. It happens every night but some nights our bodies start to sleep before our brains and that's when the falling sensation occurs.
Or something like that... Smile

Well I agree, I hate the feeling of waking up becuase you feel as though your are fallings... eoe you're probalby right, it is probably not a dream.. because it always seems to happen right after I fall asleep...

Antoher weird dream- like experience that I have had (well two) is sleep waking..

One time I got out of bed, my mind was completely awake and I could see myself doing all these things but I couldn't control my body or speech...

I woke up and walked into my grandparents room ( I was 16 or 17) and turned on a light near their room... What I remember is going into the room and yelling "where's Amanda (my sister), where the f*ck is Amanda, where the hell is she!" My grandparents told me I was dreaming and to go to bed.. so I walked into the bathroom and turned back around into their room again and started screaming.. They again told me to go to bed and then I went into my room and fell right asleep. The entire time I was trying to stop myself from screaming and was wondering what the f*ck was going on!!!
I woke up the next morning and my grandparents verified that it had all happened and I didn't dream it... When I woke up I remembered why I had done it though, I was having a dream the Amanda was kidnapped and was upstairs on the second floor of the house in a closet and my grandparents had something to do with it... Also another creepy thing to add to it.. I remember looking directly at my grandparents.. the told me I came in and started screaming into the big mirror in their room... So though I was looking in a reflection, I saw it all as if I was the mirror looking at everything else!!

Another thing that happened to me about a month ago... I woke up out of a dead sleep.. got up, went up to my boyfriend and I said (well shouted).." Where is she" and he said "where is who?" and I said "the lady, you know the lady that has been living with us for a month" and he goes" what lady, what are you talking about" and I go "You know her name, what is her name... ugh if you are going to be that f*cking stupid then I am not going to talk to you for the rest of the night" He stared at me blankly and then I stomped off into the bathroom, came out and asked what the hell just happened.. THough we laughed about it, it was really creepy!! What I did was I had taken an event that had happened earlier that day (our upstairs neighbor had moved in about a month ago and had came down to our apartment earlier that night for a few drinks...I had fallen asleep right when she was leaving) and for some reason I thought she had been sleeping in our bed all night (because I fell asleep on the couch) and that she was taking up our entire bed (no room for me) so I was upset and angry and I thought he was hiding her!!

Weird huh??

Dream from last week. Confused

I was getting in my car after work. It was dark out, like it is so many times when I leave my office. (never seem to get out on time.)

I had just shut the door when I hear the sound of someone walking on the concrete towards my car. I reached over to lock the door and just as I put my hand on it, the door opened.

The next thing I know this person is in the car with me. I am shoved back against my seat with his body pushing hard into mine. I was struggling as hard as I could but to no avail.

When I would open my mouth and scream, I could feel the cloth from his jacket slip inside my mouth.. (he was pressed that close to me)

He pushes me down on the seat and the feel of his hands SO GRAPHICALLY on my body sent me screaming.........and I woke up.

The man in my dreams was my X.

His touch was so real, that when I woke myself up out of the dream, I just laid there in fear. Looking around the room. Almost sure he was actually in there with me.

As I laid there......I began to wonder if the actual dream woke me up...or if I had screamed out loud and that is what woke me.

Regardless it was so real.

The other night my daughter yelled out in the night. She had just dreamed she was dead. The next morning my other daughter woke up and told me she'd had a wild dream the night before. It was the night of the full moon. I didn't have any bad dreams that night, I just didn't get any sleep. It seems like someone in this house always has wild dreams during the full moon. Has anyone ever heard of a connection?

I've had the "falling dream" twice. I just rolled over off my bed and it was a bottemless pit. Woke up with my heart pounding a million beats per minute.

I had another dream that I got snuffed in my bed. 3 burgerlers broke into my house, found me asleep, One tied my legs another my arms and the other was snuffing me out with a pillow. I was just struggling, but I couln't do anything about it. I was at a point where I gave up and stopped struggling feeling like life was slipping away. Feeling helpless was the worst part. I woke up feeling like I needed to sleep with a gun under my pillow.

I tend to have pretty strange dreams, but sometimes they can be downright macabre.
For example:

I am being chased by this thing, I don't know what it is but I could feel it touching me. I am crawling on this swamp of dismembered, rotting, body parts and the thing is still chasing me, then it grasps my hair and when I turn my head it is my ex boyfriend, this happened while we were still together.

I woke up crying, and cried for half an hour straight after I woke up.

It felt so real, it was truly disgusting the way I could feel everything of my body.
