Hi LeAnne,

I myself have started various we remember cav threads. he was just the sort that you can't NOT remember and have a bit of heartache when you think about the fact that he's gone.

I'm glad his voice is still reaching beyond where he is *hugs*

Hi Onyxelle,

Indeed, Cav will always be with us. Thank you for that, and HUGS right back from me to you, to wherever you are right now :-)

How is Cav's wife Naomi doing? How is his brother and family? I realize, of course, that it's been almost 3 years now, since Cav's passing, but I have been sending prayers of strength and love to Naomi, Austin and Cav's entire family. I know that I would've had a hard time getting past the pain, and I really hope they are all doing ok.

Has *anyone* heard from them?

Much love to all and blessings in the new year,
Le Anne

Welcome to A2K Le Anne :-D

Cav was trully a wonderful man who was loved by so many here. I think I'll always miss him, along with so many others.

You're right, he was an amazing man!

From Paul
I was lead to this wonderful forum. I have been lurking like a looky-loo, or a happy ghost, scampering the hillside, looking down on the village of a2k...thank you everyone, for being so welcoming, and not writing me off as some forlorn friend of Paul's, who has been haunting his old digs :-)

For Cavfancier:

The way you wear your hat
The way you sip your tea
The memory of all that
No, no they can't take that away from me

The way your smile just beams
The way you sing off key
The way you haunt my dreams
No, no they can't take that away from me
We may never, never meet again
On the bumpy road to love
Still I'll always, always keep the memory of
The way you hold your knife
The way we danced till three
The way you changed my life
No, no they can't take that away from me
No, they can't take that away from me

We may never, never meet again
On that bumpy road to love
Still I'll always, always keep the memory of
The way you hold your knife
The way we danced till three
The way you change my life
No, no they can't take that away from me
No, they can't take that away from me....

*sigh* :-(

Cavfancier found
Would it be alright if I printed here, his poetry that he wrote to me, between 1988 and 1995? I feel so lucky to have had Paul in my life, during that span of time, and his death is still hitting me so hard...I can only imagine what his family must have been dealing with.

Cavfancier/Paul lives on, everyone. Like the great writers who came before him (in my opinion, he deserves to sit alongside them: Keats, Shakespeare, Whitman, Blake, Dickinson, Woolf), he will be immortalized in the great work and legacy he left behind.

Paul's poetry should be published!!

With love from San Francisco,
LeAnne

Thank you, Noddy!
I've all these beautiful poems that he wrote. Some of them were dedicated to me, which sets on a fresh set of tears...

I will post them exactly as he wrote them, with the exact line structure.

He was writing this nearly 20 years ago now, and I realize, with a heavy heart, that I first met him when I was 18, not 19, as I previously thought. Where did 20 years go? This December will mark the anniversary of when I first met him....wow Crying or Very sad

Like I said before, if I hadn't been so young and stupid, I never would've let him go. I'm really happy he found Naomi! He had so much love and passion inside of him, and from what I've read, he showered her with love, was deeply in love with her, and I'm sure she knew what a gem she had.

Naomi, or any of Paul's family, if you're reading this, please know that my deepest condolences extend to you. I know it's been 3 years since he passed, but a man like Paul doesn't just pass into the night. I'd love to connect with you some time, and share Paul stories. Please PM me, if you'd ever want to connect.

Thanks again, Noddy and Phoenix! :-)

With love from San Francisco,
LeAnne

The first of many of Cavfancier's Poems
CALIFORNIA SKETCHES:

I.

Sunny seaside state

embrace me with an open arm

and pick my pocket with the other.

California

your food is overpriced

your people are insane

but you do have beautiful beaches.

Twist open a shandy, dude,

and drink a toast

to inspiration.

II.

There's rain in San Francisco

as dawn's first words

reach my ears.

And all at once it struck me

that the sound

of the drops on my window

was the saddest song

I had ever heard.

III.

San Francisco city lights

cast shadows over your adopted children.

The madman at the castle gates

carries on endlessly

about his broken heart

and how it can be mended

For only a dollar

"Our gates and our pocketbooks are closed."

He moves on

in search of a simpler Nirvana.

IV.

Our streets are slick with the downpour.

To our visitors,

a living hell.

To us,

a welcome antidote

to a year of painful drought.

V.

California Girls

can be so nice sometimes:

Always friendly,

always smiling,

always willing to guide me

with an open hand

into territory

I might have missed

otherwise.

VI.

The moon was full and the debutante ball

was already in full swing.

I stood on the outskirts

observing the Swan Song

like a fly on a windscreen:

l'etranger, a foreigner,

a reluctant witness

to an endangered species

floundering lost

like a peacock in a hailstorm,

not realizing

that no one was left

to hear their final cries.

I-VI: San Francisco, Dec. 18-23, 1988

VII: (To LeAnne)

There's fire in the sky

over the ocean

where the flightless birds caress the shore.

As I looked out over the water

your eyes danced like fireflies

maddened by intoxicating rays.

A babe in arms

A Christmas Carol

Yule, the winter solstice,

this evening could be perfect

as I close my hands

over yours.

~Monterey, Christmas Eve, 1988~

VIII.

City of angels

what impressions should I have

cruising up the palm-lined streets,

creeping along the Sunset Strip?

My own angel

is far away right now

leaving me

with only a few kind words

and a pleasant memory.

Hi everyone,

I'll post many many more poems of Paul's/Cavfancier, but right now, my eyes are crossing, and I've got to get some sleep.

I thought these brilliant poems of Paul's (Cavfancier) would be a nice start, and you can see his poetic genius at a very young age :-)

All my love,
LeAnne in San Francisco

Le Anne, Paul was kind enough to share some of those with me, and reading through your posts brought back a flood of memories... I remember how smitten he was with you; you were the love of his life to that point for certain...

If you're ever in NY, I'd love to share stories. Or if you ever plan a trip to Toronto, I'd be happy to accompany you to the cemetery...
