listening again and again

Keep Me In Your Heart

Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath
Keep me in your heart for awhile

If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for awhile

When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for while

There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done
Keep me in your heart for while

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while

Sometimes when you're doing simple things around the house
Maybe you'll think of me and smile

You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on your blouse
Keep me in your heart for while

Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you

Engine driver's headed north to Pleasant Stream
Keep me in your heart for while

These wheels keep turning but they're running out of steam
Keep me in your heart for while

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for while

Keep me in your heart for while

Sometimes I have terrible premonitions. I just went back to the Virtual Pub thread and it seems I knew something was up. But it's so touching to see the last bit of goofiness and toasts devoted to Cav.

Hope you don't mind sharing your thread dj.
Cav sent me over 50 songs that he was excited about sharing with me. This went on for the last 6 months. We would exchange a couple of songs a week through e mails. This one is so fitting and I had never heard it before.

Stranger To Himself

(Sandy Denny)
He was a stranger to himself
A spy in his own camp
And his money was his health
All thrown to the dust by his very own hand
Yet his beauty lingered still
Beyond the draining of the sand
But greener was the other side of the hill
Richer was the other man's land
But we loved him, loved him just like brothers would
We loved him, loved him like no others could
And she loved him, loved him like a lover should
Take good care of an aching heart
You never can replace it
You know you are the master of your heart
You'll realise that when you think it fit
Those orbs of blue are jading away
No laughter from them dances
Yet you're bound to remember this one day
Hazards are risks and risks are chances
You can run for cover, run for cover like a frightened hare
Till it's all over, all over and there's no-one there
'Cos you daren't discover, daren't discover that we really care

While Caviar’s passing leaves a massive hole in our lives, we can still ‘fill it in’ with
Some Perfect “Cav’ities’!”:

“Pfft...no worries, life is too short to take things too seriously.”
______________________________________

While on the topic of the stage, where the hell is that Godot fellow anyway? I feel like I've been waiting for him forever.
______________________________________

Tripping over the lights
basted in halogen glaze,
with stars in the eyes
and elephants in the heart,
we stomach on
and dream of Fiji,
temperate climes
and natural beauty.
______________________________________

Fresh falling snow,
each flake unique.

Those lucky
to cling to branches
join the elite order
of hoarfrost,

laughing at their brethren
below, trampled, shoveled,
driven over,
broken down,
salted
(what are we, caviar?)
until each individual
is crushed
into an unreconizable
brown slush.

An unexpected warm day
proves the equalizer.

I'm probably considered something of a character.

Ahh, O'Bill, lighten up. Sometimes I just like to mess with people.
______________________________________

Another good technique is to just change the subject by saying something like, "so how are your kids, do you know where they are?"
______________________________________

Ahh, the key to a good one-liner is timing and context. Having a bunch memorized is just wrong, they'll be ineffective:
"Painting must be so relaxing."
"Yes it is, especially when I'm comatose. So, what are your 'hobbies' <sarcastic tone>, welding and small engine repair?"
______________________________________

I suppose I define stewardship differently. To me, it's closer to the Native tradition of only taking what you need, and giving thanks for it, recognizing both our power to upset the balance, and also our responsibility to maintain it. Semantics, maybe, but that's how I've always viewed the concept.
______________________________________

Well, your first error is blaming this on what you call "contemporary religiosity" which is flagrantly untrue. This attitude of male dominance over women, and the belief of their superiority to women dates back thousands of years. As for the rest of your post, I don't believe a damn word, and refuse to address it, really. A perceptive person can see that your argument is completely full of holes. I don't know where you live, but in North America, women are not nearly as complacent or 'marginalized' as you might expect. Now, if you want to make this a discussion of the marginalization of women globally, that is an entirely different kettle of fish, and you should have been more specific about that in the original post. Sweeping generalizations do not make a good thesis.

shewolf, I thought you were already married. Is this about the hubby's haircut? ______________________________________

cavfancier has a double meaning, the first for my dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and the second for caviar, Russian Osetra please.

I love my craft, and go into a serious shame spiral when things get slow. Thankfully, there are cool forums like this to interact with others and pass on my superior knowledge, muahaahaa....(don't do evil laugh terribly well, being in a service industry). Sometimes wacky, sometimes serious, just yer average dude in a white jacket...

cav really liked Incredible String Band (and I think it says a lot about his kind of sensibility)

Here are a small ISB concert for him:

October Song
Robin Williamson

I'll sing you this October song,
Oh, there is no song before it.
The words and tune are none of my own,
for my joys and sorrows bore it.

Beside the sea
The brambly briars in the still of evening,
Birds fly out behind the sun,
and with them I'll leavng.

The fallen leaves that jewel the ground,
They know the art of dying,
And leave with joy their glad gold hearts,
In the scarlet shadows lying.

When hunger calls my footsteps home,
The morning follows after,
I swim the seas within my mind,
And the pine-trees laugh green laughter.

I sed to search for happiness,
And I used to follow pleasure,
But I found a door behind my mind,
And that's the greatest treasure.

For rulers like to lay down laws,
And rebels like to break them,
And the poor priests like to walk in chains,
And God likes to forsake the.

I met a man whose name was Time,
And he said, "I must be goin,"
But just how long that was,
I have no way of knowing.

Sometimes I want to murder time,
Sometimes when my heart's aching,
But mostly I just stroll along,
The path that he is taking.

Maya
Robin Williamson

The dust of the rivers does murmur and weep
Hard and sharp laughter that cuts to the bone
Ah, but ever face within your face does show
Going gladly now to give himself his own

And twelve yellow willows shall fellow the shallows
Small waves and thunder be my pillow
Upon the gleaming water two swans that swim
And every place shall be my native home

The east gate like a fortress dissolve it away
The west gate like a prison O come break it down
Island I remember living here
Wandering beneath the empty skies

In time her hair grew long and swept the ground
And seven blackbirds carried it out behind
It bore the holy imprint of her mind
As green-foot slow she moved among the seasons

The great man, the great man, historians his memory
Artists his senses, thinkers his brain
Labourers his growth
Explorers his limbs
And soldiers his death each second
And mystics his rebirth each second
Businessmen his nervous system
No-hustle men his stomach
Astrologers his balance
Lovers his loins
His skin it is all patchy
But soon will reach one glowing hue
God is his soul
Infinity his goal
The mystery his source
And civilisation he leaves behind
Opinions are his fingernails

Maya Maya
All this world is but a play
Be thou the joyful player

The wanderer no sense does make
His eyes being tied in the true love's knot
The trees perceive his soul
Do not detain him long

Dear little animal dark-eyed and small
Caring for your fur with pointed paws
This hawk of truth is swift and flies with a still cry
A small sweetmeat to the eyes of night

O dandelion be thou thine
Reflecting the sun in sexual glory
In every-changing tongues
The every-changing story

The book, man, bird, woman, serpent, sea, sun
Blessed O blessed are they of the air
Your eyes are the eyes
Of the glad land
Ye twelve that will enter the seasons

The great ship, the ship of the world
Long time sailing
Mariners, mariners, gather your skills

Jesus and Hitler and Richard the Lion Heart
Three kings and Moses and Queen Cleopatra
The Cobbler, the maiden
The mender and the maker
The sickener and the twitcher
And the glad undertaker
The shepherd of willows
The harper and the archer
All sat down in one boat together
Troubled voyage in calm weather.

Job's Tears
Robin Williamson

We're all still here
no one has gone away
Waiting, acting much too
well and procrastinating

The cross of the earth
(let me go through)
The four winds point them
Body to body
Seas to anoint them
The reed they brought him
Sponge and vinegar
Fiery serpents
Spitting gold and cinnamon
The moon was bleeding
And stars were shallow
And the sword that killed him
Was a sword of willow

Hello I must be going well I only came to say
I hear my mother calling and I must be on my way

O I remember it all from before

The winter and the midnight
Could not hold him
The fire could not burn him
Nor earth enfold him
Rise up Lazarus
Sweet and salty
Brother soldiers
Stop your gambling and talk to me
The thieves were stealers
But reason condemned him
And the grave was empty
Where they had laid him

Why heroes die at sunrise
Why the birds are arrows of the wise
Why each perfumed flower
Why each moment has its hour

It's you
It's all true

Stranger than that we're alive
Stranger than that
Stranger than that
Whatever you think
It's more than that, more than that
Happy man, the happy man
Doing the best he can

Keep on walking where the angels showed
(All will be one)
Travelling where the saints have trod
Over in the old golden land
In the golden book of the golden game
The golden angel wrote my name
When the deal goes down I'll put my crown
Over in the old golden land

I won't need to kiss you when we're there
(All will be one)
I won't need to miss you when we're there
Over in the old golden land

We'll understand it better in the sweet bye and bye
You won't need to worry and you won't have to cry
Over in the old golden land

Time
Robin Williamson

Arise, arise and follow me
as best you can
Come follow me, my measured dance
Come see my circus, come dice with chance
Now you are come beneath my sway
Who once was as the daylight gay
Here's rights and wrongs
and reasons why
A time to live
A time to die

I was your slave, now you are mine
I am Time, I am Time.

Experience will teach you what you may
and what you may not do
I'll teach you to forget the truths
you always knew
See what might be,
See what might have been
Though you yourself created me,
Your own mistake has set me free

I was your slave, now you are mine
I am Time, I am Time.

You get brighter
Mike Heron

You get brighter every day and every time I see you
Scattered brightness in your way and you taught me how to love you

I know you belong to everybody but you can't deny that I'm you

In the morning when I wake I moor my boat and greet you
Hold your brightness in my eye and I wonder what does sleep do

Krishna colours on the wall
You taught me how to love you

Oh wondrous light, light, lighter
You give all your brightness away and it only makes you brighter.

(The next one, I know, was among cavfancier's favourites)

Painting Box
Mike heron

When the morning of your eyes comes waking through my shadows
Leaving just a trace of twilight sleep,
I whisper to the baby raindrops playing on my window,
And tell them gently this is not the time that they should weep.

For somewhere in my mind there is a painting box,
I have every color there it's true.
Just lately when I look inside my painting box,
I seem to pick the colors of you.

My Friday evening's foot-steps plodding dully through this black town,
Are far away now from the world that I'm in.
My eyes are listening to some sounds that I think just might be springtime,
With daffodils between my toes I'm laughing at their whim,

And somewhere in my mind there is a painting box,
I have every color there it's true,
Just lately when I look inside my painting box,
I seem to pick the colors of you.

Oh somewhere in my mind there is a painting box,
I have every color there it's true.
Just lately when I look inside my painting box,
I seem to pick the colors of you.

The purple sail above me catches all the strength of summer.
Fishes stop and ask me where I am bound.
I smile and shake my head and say my little ship is sinking,
But I kind of like the sea that I'm on, and I don't mind if I do drown.

For somewhere in my mind there is a painting box,
I have every color there it's true.
Just lately when I look inside my painting box,
I seem to pick the colors of you.

And the Incredible String Band used to finish their concerts singing this choir from "A Very Celular Song":

May the long time sun shine upon you
All love surround you
And the pure light within you
Guide you all the way on.

I awoke this morning with "Against All Odds" (Phil Collins version) running through my head. Bear asked what I was singing. (Didn't realize I was doing so audibly). Been listening to it on Bear share. Not sure why I plucked it from the past, but certainly an expression of how I am currently feeling.

Against All Odds
By Phil Collins

How can I just let you walk away,
just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you, ooh
You're the only one who really knew me at all

How can you just walk away from me,
when all I can do is watch you leave
Cos we've shared the laughter and the pain,
and even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now,
'cos there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
just the memory of your face
Take a look at me now,
'cos there's just an empty space
And you coming back to me
is against all odds and that's what I've got to face

I wish I could just make you turn around,
turn around and see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you,
so many reasons why
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now,
'cos there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
just the memory of your face
Take a look at me now,
'cos there's just an empty space
But to wait for you,
well that's all I can do and that's what I've got to face
Take a good look at me now,
'cos I'll still be standing here
And you coming back to me is against all odds
That's the chance I've got to take, oh, oho

Just take a look at me now

I'm pretty new to the board. But I must pay my respects to Cavfancier. He posted advice on my first ever post when I needed advice. We'll all have a chance to thank Cav for his help someday.
