It's global warming that's causing the robins to migrate early. It's changing their migration patterns too.

Robins didn't used to come by this way. Last year, though, we saw some robins early in the spring. I didn't know what they were since the last time I saw robins was when I lived in Chicago when I was a kid. My dad identified them, and we were just struck that we had robins in the yard. The usual bird here is the house sparrow and robins are about twice their size and rounder shaped.

@InfraBlue,
Hmmm - if you can get robins there, maybe we can get robins in Albuquerque. I last saw one on on a trip to Washington, DC, but other than that, also not since Chicago when I was a kid.

@farmerman,

I think the American robin is not the same as ours.

Ours is cuter, of course.

@McTag,
I had a robin hopping around my spade last week when I was digging in the cow-**** on my veggie patch. Worms seemed to interest it.

@spendius,
Robins are the boldest of our garden birds. They seem to have no fear when there's a meal in prospect.

@McTag,
A blackbird usually joins in and is just as fearless. Maybe they are simply very hungry.

@farmerman,
well you said it worms -- that this the first thing that came to me -- go to the local fishing tackle place and buy a bunch of worms and leave them in a big box outdoors.

Would that work?

Of course it would if you don't mind feeding one creature with other creatures.

@farmerman,
that is so funny - I usually look at the original date to avoid this.

Funny thing is we got so much snow this winter and have been seeing robins all over place so it seemed so plausable and actually was on my mind.

Well did the robins eat the worms.
