DVD player stuck in "standby" mode

hard-boot the player (pull the plug), wait 5 min then turn back on. Most electronics reset when hard-booted then turned on after 5 min or so.

Good advice, bubbleme -- my Denon player has gotten stuck in a mode and pulling the plug should set the player back up as new out-of-the-box. I also have gone into the menu on my unit to check all the configurations and found mistakes. If all this fails, it might be a device failure and unfortunately, that means a repair bill. At the cost of replacing most units today, it's often cheaper just to purchase a new one. This could be an upgrade if one doesn't have progressive scan and component outputs which is the best imporvement on older units.
